Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why don’t states/provinces/departments count as flags?
A: Claiming sub-flags – ie flags within greater flags - would merely confuse and water down the whole concept of flagging. It should be a challenge and should be exclusive to get a new flag considering there are a mere 193 sovereign states in the world.

Q: Can women play?
A: You have to understand that because I’m a guy, this website is written from a male perspective.  This doesn’t mean women can’t play.  Women can and should play.  In fact, some of the most enthusiastic flaggers I’ve ever met were women.

Q: What if a person is a dual citizen and has two passports?
A: Refer to
Constitution of Flagging.

Q: Where are you from originally?
A: I’m American.  I was born in Santa Monica, California, lived most of my life in Redmond/Sammamish, Washington, and now I’m all over the world.

Q: How many flags do you have and do you see an end to your flagging sexpeditions one day?
A: 19 flags.  My goal is 25 flags before I die or marriage; a goal I thought I’d never come close to, but I’m getting closer.

Q: How do I use this website?
A: After you hook up with a foreigner, you can refer to this web site to check the status of your new flag.  Although most flags are captured outside of your home country (e.g. while traveling), it’s possible to hook up with foreigners in your own country.

Q: Do you want capture every flag in the whole world?
A: I’m ambitious, but not that ambitious.  As stated in a previous question, I’d be happy to reach 25 flags out of the 193 sovereign states out there.  Plus, getting every flag in the world would mean that I’d have to sleep with a member of the Vatican, and I believe most of their 800 citizens are male, if not all of them.  Although, if you were female, getting the Vatican flag is the best flag you could possibly get:  smallest population in the world, and getting the Vatican flag is extremely difficult for obvious reasons.

Q: Do strippers and prostitutes count as flags?
A: Generally, no.  You cannot pay for the flag.  However, strippers and prostitutes have private lives outside of their professions.  Therefore, if you hook up with a stripper/prostitute and do not pay for sex, then yeah, you got her/his flag.

Q: What are the origins of flagging?
A: My first foreign flag encounters were during my one year study abroad experience in France – I got the Czech flag in the Czech Republic and the French flag in France.  Besides wondering what it would be like to be with a foreigner while growing up, this is when my fascination with foreign women began.  Over the years, I realized that many people were claiming flags they didn’t deserve to claim.  These preliminary conversations/debates laid the seeds to the Constitution of Flagging. Flagging laws and theories were then perfected over the last half decade throughout my travels.  With each new flag, I added something new to the rules.  Flagging has strong roots in the backpacking subculture, however, anyone can flag and most people have been flagging and never even realized it.

Q: You are a pig and disrespectful towards women, in particular the “flags” you lay claim to.
A: First of all, that is not a fucking question!  Second, I’m actually a nice guy once you get to know me.  Third, yes, some women have deleted me from facebook because they didn’t like the fact they were one of my flags.  I’m their American flag though, so it’s not that big of a deal.  Oh well.  On the other hand, some of my flags have told me it’s an awesome idea.  Depends on the person I guess.

And by the way, to all you flagging-haters out there:  lighten up, sex should be fun!

Q: Does anal sex count as a flag?
A: Yes.  How do you think gay men flag?  If you’re a heterosexual man and you’ve had anal sex with a woman, you get the flag too.

Q: Why/How do you think all these crazy thoughts?
A: All of my material comes from first-hand experience, mostly during my travels.  Most flagging laws and theories were born from some flagging experience.
