Atlas Al and The Hunger love foreign women, more so than women from their home countries. Foreigners are exotic, different, mysterious, somehow sexier, and they love hooking up with them. However, something happened after they hooked up with foreigners: they wanted to know what “flag” they had just captured.

The easiest flags to determine are called “true” flags; someone born and raised in a country whose parents are from that country. For example, a Swedish woman who grew up in Sweden and whose parents are Swedish. Yet the world is more complex than ever before, especially when it comes to flagging. That is why internal and external factors must be considered when determining one’s flag status:

–Internal: dual nationalities, moving from one country to another at a certain age, essentially the how and why a person determines their nationality.

–External: the political aspect of flagging. If we know what a country is, we should also be able to distinguish what isn’t a country, i.e. a captureable flag. The line has to be drawn somewhere as to what is considered a flag.

Atlas Al and The Hunger’s quest to determine what is and what isn’t a captureable flag required them to learn about international politics, psychology, anthropology, and social identity theory. The Constitution of Flagging, a document codifying the flagging travel game, was the byproduct of asking so many questions. To be fair, everyone should play by the same flag-capturing guidelines.

FlaggingHeadquarters.com is your reference guide. After hooking up abroad, come back for flag status confirmation and don’t forget to familiarize yourself with FHQ’s “Must Know Flagging Vocab,” located on the left side of the site.

If you ever wanted to hook up with a foreigner, or have already hooked up with a foreigner, welcome to Flagging Headquarters.

Who is Atlas Al

American girls were my world until I studied abroad junior year in the south of France. That’s when I hooked up with a foreigner – from the Czech Republic – for the very first time.  Foreign women have fascinated me ever since.  Women from back home aren’t bad, it’s just that foreigners are so much more exotic in the way they look, dress, and behave, and to me they’re sexier.

I couldn’t just go from high school, to university, to a full-time job. Little did I know that the 3-month Euro trip I had planned would turn into 5 years of a pleasure-seeking lifestyle as a backpacking hostel receptionist. When I wasn’t managing reception desks in Barcelona (Kabul Hostel), Madrid (Cat’s Hostel, Mad Hostel), Edinburgh (St. Christopher’s Inns), or Sydney (Legend Has It Westend, Maze Backpackers), I stayed as a guest in hostels around the world.

But something happened during my travels. I was constantly in a position to meet foreign women; either the locals from the country I was living/working in, or backpacking guests staying at the hostel. Sex is on most people’s minds most of the time, but even more so when traveling. I thought it fun to ask people which “flags” they had “captured” and compare stereotypes and cultural similarities/differences. What I realized was that we needed a standardized code to play this sexual travel game because people were claiming flags they didn’t deserve to claim. With each new flag I got, I added something to the first of its kind, Constitution of Flagging.

I’ll tell you why the flagosphere needs such a document: 1) claiming flags must be fair (i.e. no paying, no minor league sex), and 2) I want to know which flag I just got after hooking up with a foreigner. Taking into consideration dual nationality, physical characteristics, and moving from one country to another at a certain age, I want everyone to ask themselves what nationality they identify with more.

I started FlaggingHeadquarters.com in October 2009, and one of my best friends, The Hunger, signed on shortly thereafter.  At the moment I’m based out of Oslo, Norway, but could be anywhere as I pursue a master’s degree in Anthropology starting autumn 2013.

Who is The Hunger

The more I travel, the more I know what I like and what I want. Even though I’ve been to 50-odd countries, it still feels as if the best is yet to come. I started out as a backpacker, now I prefer to “live in countries.”

Foreign women and food has taken me around the world in search of the perfect girl and the perfect kebab.

After spending many European summers abroad, I became an ESL teacher to sustain my summer travel addiction. A job teaching English is a passport to travel, limited only by your cultural palette.

My love of beautiful women is biological, but I credit the film National Lampoon’s European Vacation for sparking my interest in hooking up with foreigners. I’ve always preferred to date girls from foreign countries; so much more fun and interesting. And what you learn can’t be found in any book.

We hope you enjoy the posts as much as we love writing them. We’ll continue to discuss all things global and foreign in our trademark Flagging style. If you like debating stereotypes and are a lover of foreigners, or would like to be, you’ve come to the right place!
